Crocodiles Join the Flood Victims in the Philippines

There has been rumors of crocodile joining the flood victims in Cainta Rizal. The rumors circulated said that five crocodiles escaped from the crocodile farm and only 4 crocodiles were caught back. This was reported by the ABS CBN news last Wednesday and the Rizal Crocodile Farm assure the public that is was not true.

However, a cellphone photograph of a crocodile swimming somewhere in Cainta was spotted by certain Michael Lambert and the other two witnesses namely Kenneth Taneo and Marie Tan

I googled this topic the next day yet only this article was found. On Thursday ABS CBN news, DENR had inspected the farm and found a certain part of the crocodile farm destroyed by Ondoy typhoon. Yet, the government officials were again assured that ALL crocodiles were accounted for and the spotted crocodile was not in any way connected to them.

It dishearten me, that the flood victims now has another concern to worry. They do not only worry about their daily bread but also worry about being the crocodile's daily bread. It was hard enough for the Filipino people to deal with allegorical crocodiles in the Philippine government and the LITERAL CROCODILE seems to add up to their worries.

Some commented that facing the literal crocodile is much way better than facing the two legged, lying and smiling crocodile in the government seat.

My Niece Ann

I am a busy bee "daily". I am a stage Aunt and a Aunt-tutor. So, I guide my nieces in answering assignments and their studies. They are all the apple of my eyes. Each one worthy of their stories to tell. For today I will be telling about my niece Ann. She is a bubbly student and a joy to our family.

I am busy coaching, guiding and half heartedly scolding my nieces when Ann declared, "I wore my socks inside out this morning." So I inquired, "Who helped you wore your socks this morning?". "Nobody", she answered with a small smile. And I as an aunt did not see something wrong about it. When she suddenly declared, "But when teacher inquired who helped me wore my socks I answered it was Grandmommy!".

I know that the kid is telling a lie and should scold and reprimand her for that, but sorry guys I only saw the humor in it. I saw a child trying to get out of a situation, which is only a natural reaction.

I found it funny that my innocent mother is being point out as the culprit so Ann get out unscathed of the situation. I understand the little pride in her though. I know how she should maintain her 'angel' attitude in front of her teacher. That I understand.

Ann always has something new everyday. I went home one evening and she started to sing a song she learned from school. The funny thing is she could not follow the words because she could not utter the words and she speaks with a lisp. Ann is mum, bling her words yet the tune is quite correct and nice to hear. Again, I slept that night with a smile an Ann's memories to keep me happy sleeping.

Lapu-Lapu and My Niece Am

My nieces are really the "sunshine of my life". I was preparing Am for school and she suddenly asked me, "Mommy, do you know Lapu-Lapu?". I really do not know how to answer that- so I asked her, "Do you?".

Am answered, "No, but I read about him yesterday"? So, "what do you know about him?", I asked her again. "He killed Magellan?" Am answered. "Why did Lapu-Lapu killed Magellan?", I asked in amusement. "Magellan went to the Pilipinas that is why Lapu-Lapu killed him", she answered in innocence. "Ahhhhhh, so do you know where Pilipinas is?", I tried to tease her. And she looked at me in my eyes with amusement too, and said a blunt, "No."

We ended our washing activity with much laughter and left Am's confusion in the air. Before we left to school, I left a word to my mom to informed Am of Pilipinas location and point it our barangay in a Philippine map.

Pilipinas is a Filipino word of the word Philippines. A country located in Southeast Asia with lots of beaches and tourist attractions. Philippines is considered as an archipelago so there are so many wonderful beaches all over the Philippines.

Boracay Island is one of the famous tourist attraction in the Philippines. It is so touristy that almost everything here are expensive. Bohol's Chocolate Hills is also a great sight to witness. the color of the hills changes according to dry (brown colored hills) and wet (green colored hills) season.

Cebu is also a historical city. Mactan is an island of Cebu, this is where the battle of Mactan, and place where Ferdinand Magellan was killed. Yeah, Lapu-Lapu's domain.

How I wish that I could show Am, Mactan and Lapu_lapu's big statue.

THINGS YOU DIDN’T DO

Remember the day I borrowed your brand new car
And I dented it. I thought you’d kill me.
But you didn’t.

And the time I drag you to the beach and you’d said, ‘It would rain.’
And it did. I thought you’d say I told you so.
But you didn’t.

And the time I flirted will all the guys to make you jealous.
And you were. I thought you’d leave me.
But you didn’t.

And remember the time I spilled blueberry pie all over your
brand new car rug. I thought you’d smacked me.
But you didn’t.

And the time I forgot to tell you that the dance was formal
and you showed up in jeans. I thought you’d leave me forever.
But you didn’t.

Yes there were lots of things you didn’t do. But you put up with me.
And you love me and protected me.
There were lots of things I wanted to make up to you when you returned from Viet Nam.
But you didn't.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE ALL OVER AGAIN

from an 85 years old dying of cancer

If I had my life to live all over again
I will not be afraid of more mistakes next time.
In fact, I’ve relax a lot more. I’d limber up.
I’ll be sillier than I’ll be on this trip.
In fact, I know a very few things that I would take so seriously.
I take more chances. I take more trips.
I climb more mountains. I swim more rivers.
I sit and watch more sunsets.
I go more places I’ve never been before.
I eat more ice-creams and fewer beans.
I have more actual travels and fewer imaginary ones.
You see, I was one of those people that live practically, sanely and sensibly,
Hour after hour, day after day.
Oh, I had my moments.
And if I had my life to live over again, I try to have those moments.
In fact, I try to have nothing else but wonderful moments
Side by side by side.
Instead of living so many years ahead of my time.
I was one of those people who never went anywhere without a
Thermometer, a hot water bottle, a gargle, a raincoat and a parachute
If I had to do it all over again,
I’ll travel lighter next time.
If I had my life to live over again
I play with more children
I pick more daisies
I love more….javascript:void(0)
If I had to live my life all over again
But you see, I don’t…....

A teacher from my Professional Education course gave this poem to the class. It touched my life.
